Convention Highlights: Tuesday July 1, 2003
 Day 4: Progress in Research
Tuesday opened with the NAMI Annual Business Meeting, where new board members were welcomed and outgoing board members were honored. The morning Research Plenary focused on new research initiatives from the National Institute of Mental Health, and afternoon Research Update sessions focused on hopeful research advances in five critical areas: treating cognitive deficits in schizophrenia, brain imaging, early intervention for psychotic disorders, borderline personality disorder, and bipolar disorder. Tuesday afternoon also featured the popular Ask-the-Doctor sessions where participants could ask questions of medical professional in eleven concurrent sessions. The evening and convention were capped off with the NAMI Convention Awards Dinner a feast for all the senses which, as one attendee put it, "should itself win an award for Best Awards Dinner."
