About NAMI of Southwestern Wisconsin
NAMI stands for National Alliance on Mental Illness. NAMI of Southwestern Wisconsin is a nonprofit organization serving Grant, Iowa and Crawford Counties. We are an affiliate of NAMI Wisconsin and NAMI. A list of the communities we serve is at the bottom of this page.
We meet every other Thursday at 7 pm in the Lower Lounge at the St. Augustine's University Parish church on the corner of Hickory and Pine Streets in Platteville. We provide support for people with mental illness and their families. See our calendar for meeting dates. Contact us for meeting information.
We are particularly proud of our affiliate newsletter, which covers national and local news stories on mental illness and topics of interest to the mental illness community. As the affiliate for three rural counties, our newsletter helps us educate people who are not able to attend our meetings. There is no charge for our semimonthly newsletter. Contact Us for information on getting a subscription. Our newsletter is distributed free to mental health providers in our service area.
We assist mentally ill individuals and their familes in locating services in the community. Some of this information is available on our website under Resources. If you do not see the answer to your question on our site, contact us. Let us know how we can help you.
We can provide trained speakers who have experienced mental illness for meetings and other functions in the community. There is no charge to have a speaker for your organization. We can sometimes help arrange special virtual reality demonstrations as well.
Our service area includes the following communities: Ferryville, Mount Sterling, Soldier's Grove, Gays Mills, Steuben, Eastman, Lynxville, Senaca, Easman, Prairie du Chien, Wauzeka, Boscobel, Blue River, Muscoda, Bagley, Rewey, Fennimore, Lancaster, Cassville, Tennyson, Dickeyvillle, Hazel Green, Platteville, Livingston, Montfort, Avoca, Arena, Barneveld, Mineral Point, Dodgeville, Ridgeway, Linden, Cobb, Highland, Lone Rock, and Hollandale.
