NAMI Southern Maryland provides education, support and advocacy for persons with mental illness and their families. Our cunsumer programs allow many people the opportunity to reach recovery and build strategies to continue on a positive path. Our unique family programs empower parents, siblings, spouses and children to utilize the coping skills they need to stay healthy while assisting their ill relatives in the journey towards recovery. _______________________________

NAMi Southern Maryland will be attending Advocacy Day at the Maryland General Assembly in Annapolis.
At Advocacy Day we get to meet with our local Delegates and Senators to discuss important issues pertaining to
persons living with serious mental illness in Southern Maryland.
The"face time" that we get with our legislators is invaluable because it helps the Delegates put a human face on this issue AS IT AFFECTS THEIR CONSTITUENTS.
If you and others want to attend, please let us know by calling our Lexington Park Office at 301-737-1988.
The more people that we have attending, the more effective our advocacy will be.

SUPPORTING OURSELVES … AND EACH OTHER
Some members of the NAMI Southern Maryland family live with the fear created when a loved one attempts suicide.
Others live with the grief of losing a loved one to this tragedy.
Sometimes a professional is not the only source of help and support an individual or a family needs, when a loved one has attempted or has been lost to suicide.
While NAMI Southern MD does not provide professional counseling, we are a membership of individuals and families who understand the vital need for mutual understanding and support.
If you or someone you know is in this situation, contact NAMI Southern MD at 301-737-1988 for resource information and to learn about Family Support Groups in St. Mary’s County.
