The Faces of NAMI Danville

NAMI Danville Board of Directors

Lois Anderson is currently serving as the President for the Board of Directors at NAMI Danville. bio coming soon!

Ken Medaris has served on the Board of Directors at NAMI Danville for four years and is currently acting as Vice President for 2010. He is an agent with Johnson Pohlmann Insurance in Danville, specializing in individual and group health, life, disability, and long-term care. He is also a member of the Vestry and Senior Warden at Trinity Episcopal Church. He serves on the Danville Architectural Review Board and is an active member of the Danville Rotary Club.

Gloria Pittman is serving as the Treasurer and head of finance of the NAMI Board of Directors. As a retired planner for Philips Lighting, she is now active philanthropic organizations, serving on the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity as well as acting as the Budget Director, Family Support, and Finance Committee. She is a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where she serves on the Altar Guild, ECW, Vestry, and Financial Secretary.

Cay Shawler (MS, PhD; University of Kentucky School of Medicine) is currently serving as the Secretary of the NAMI Danville Board of Directors. Cay is a practicing clinical psychologist and social worker in the Danville area. She is a former president of the Kentucky Psychological Association and is the Clinical Coordinator for the Bluegrass Regional Mental Health and Mental Retardation Board.

Megan Shelton has served on the NAMI Danville Board of Directors for many years and is a former president. She has worked for Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center as the Clinical Manager for Behavioral Health Services since 1998. She has a Bachelors Degree in Nursing and is a Certified Instructor for Nonviolent Crisis Intervention. She is also a member of The Presbyterian Church in Danville.

Jo Noel graduated from Spalding College with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She has worked on psychiatric units at Our Lady of Peace, Ephraim McDowell, and the University of Virginia. Jo has earned a Master of Science in Nursing from Eastern Kentucky University. She currently works as a psychiatric nurse practitioner at the Danville and Harrodsburg Comprehensive Care Offices.

Katy Meyer is serving as the intern at NAMI Danville from February-May 2012. Katy is a government major at Centre College and plans to attend law school, as well as earn her Masters in Public Administration. With an interest in non-profit management, Katy hopes to be involved in program development, marketing/event planning, and advocacy efforts during her time with NAMI. Check the calendar to see when she is available at the office to assist you.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness is a grassroots self-help, support, education, and advocacy organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of all people affected by mental illness. Since its inception in 1979, NAMI has established chapters in 50 states and maintains a membership of over 220,000.

Nationally, NAMI has pressed Congress to support research on the causes of mental illness, lobbied for funds to be directed towards the development of more effective medications, and advocated for to increase support services by the government.
