NAMI CHELAN DOUGLAS MISSION

 
To provide free and low cost support and education to anyone with mental illness, and their loved ones. 
We advocate for quality care and proper policies at the local, state and national levels.
 
NAMI CD is the local chapter of the national organization and is a 501c3 non-profit, run by volunteers.

Support Meetings 
 
Get support. Give support. Learn about local resources and services and how to advocate for better
care for yourself or a loved one. Two different meetings a month in Wenatchee. Confidentiality

  • FIRST Monday of each month, 5:00-6:30 pm  at Recovery Innovations, 701 N. Miller Street, Wenatchee, WA.

  • THIRD Tuesday of each month, 7:00-8:30 pm at RiverWest Assisted Living Center, 900 N. Western Ave., Wenatchee, 

       (the building in the back).   





FREE or Low Cost Education Programs Offer Important, Up-to-date Information: 

Family to Family


A free, 12-week course for family caregivers of individuals with severe mental illnesses.  

Discusses the clinical treatment of these illnesses, and teaches the knowledge and skills that

family members need to cope more effectively. Call Tamie at 509-885-8814 or Joel at 509-663-6724.

 

BASICS


For parents of children up to 18 years of age, who have mental health or behavioral issues.

Learn to advocate in school and with other professionals. Call Suzanne at 509-881-0611 or James at 509-881-4934. 

 
 

Peer to Peer


A free, 10-week course that teaches individual relapse prevention planning, a debriefing / storytelling week, and an advance directive for psychiatric care. Taught by trained mental health peers. Next class begins in March. To register call Patricia at 509-665-0620.

 
 

Mental Health  First Aid                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               

Learn how to identify mental health emergencies / illnesses, work together as a team and become effective responders.   Together, we can improve community networking, expand the knowledge of appropriate community resources and learn from the varying perspectives of others.  This is course is for law enforcement and emergency services, schools, homeless shelters, colleges and universities, corporations and local businesses, community service groups, healthcare providers and yes, EVERYONE!

All members are decision makers and have a vote! Come and learn more at 7 pm, the 1st Tuesday of every month, at RiverWest Assisted Living in Wenatchee, Washington.

  • The more members we have, the more power we wield when it comes to applying for funding and grants. The more political power we have with elected officials and the more voice we have in the community for improving care and services to those with mental health issues.
