AFFORDABLE HOUSING IN THE SAINT LOUIS METROPOLITAN AREA:

Some of the best housing available to people with mental illnesses are managed by local community mental health centers. In order to obtain housing from the programs below, people need to participate as a member and/or receive services from the respective community mental health center. Please note that these housing programs often have waiting lists and it is best to start a housing search before the exact moment it is needed. Also, case managers or community support personnel at the centers below assist clients in finding independent housing in the community in addition to the programs below and provide available resources like subsidies to help pay for rent. If interested, please contact the respective community mental health center for more information.

Great website for people looking for independent housing. It includes a great deal of information that will help people easily identify the type of housing they need. Landlords update their listings regularly. Additionally, case managers can sign up to view the “special needs housing section”, which will give them information on local housing available to specific needs of clients.
