History of Committee Events:

2012:  The Peer Advisory Council co-sponsored “Live Your Life Well” workshop with Mental Health America.  Speakers were psychiatrist, Dr. Dragan Svarkic and social worker, Brian Evans, and Millennium Psychiatric was a contributor.

2011: “Hands Across America event May 14, peers from mental health organizations supported those with mental illness by joining hands in Forest ParkRESPECT Award, Committee members   served as the selection committee.           

2010:   New Peer Quarterly Newsletter, “I Am NAMI: In Our Own Words” developed and the first issue published, July 2010. RESPECT Award, Committee members served as the selection committee.           

2009:   Peer Workshop, “Work for Recovery” featured vocational specialist from BJC Behavioral Health, Christine Besher; self published author Yolanda Brown; and Certified Missouri Peer Specialist, Stephanie Boyer. Special Exhibit, “Lobotomy: A Piece of Mind” curated by Ellen Rosenbaum. RESPECT Award, The committee worked with staff to develop criteria   and served as the selection committee for the award.

2008: Peer Workshop, “Recovery” featured psychiatrist, Dr. John Newcomer and art display curated by   Kristina Sicuro.

2007: Committee members wrote articles for the newsletter, and volunteered at the Gala.
