NAMI DC has been proud to partner with the Metropolitan Police Department and the DC Department of Mental Health in rolling out the District's Crisis Intervention Officer program. We are pleased to have had 3 graduating classes of officers so far, as well as new recruit trainings.

A key component of this training on our end is to give a platform for consumers and family members to come in and tell their stories to the officers. If you are a consumer or family member and have had encounters with law enforcement please contact the office at namidc@juno.com if you are interested in participating in future trainings. Please note that these trainings take place during the work week. A small stipend is issued to presenters for their time.

To learn more about this program, please visit the link below. You may also contact the NAMI DC office by email or phone (202-546-0646) if you have any questions.
