NAMI Educational Programs:

Education Meetings: Guest Speakers are community experts who speak about a wide range of mental health topics.
First Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm. Location: The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, FL 33760

  • Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Training is a 40-hour education program designed to educate law enforcement officers about mental illness. Call the NAMI Help Line at 727-791-3434.
  • Family-to-Family is a twelve-week course for family and friends of individuals with mental illness, to assist them in care giving, coping and problem-solving.

  • Peer-to-Peer is a nine-week course for people with mental illness, to assist them in understanding brain disorders, symptom management, relapse prevention, coping skills, and advance directives.

  • Breaking the Silence is an educational package designed to teach students on three grade levels, upper elementary, middle school, and high school about serious mental illness.

Our free Peer-to-Peer, Family-to-Family, and CIT trainings are typically held twice a year – spring and fall. New classes are announced in our bi-monthly newsletter. Breaking the Silence is held throughout the school year in Pinellas County schools. For more information about these programs, please contact Gay Hawk at 727-479-3254.
