NAMI LINN COUNTY MONTHLY EDUCATIONAL FORUMS

NAMI Educational Forums spotlight local experts and guest speakers who present on a variety of mental health-related topics.  These discussions are free of charge and open to the public.  No registration is required.  NAMI-LC welcomes your ideas for forum topics!  Please e-mail suggestions to nami-lc@hotmail.com or call the resource line at 319-221-1184.

Special Guest Speaker: Renee Schulte, Representative, Iowa State House

Representative Schulte will discuss the implications of pending budget cuts for mental health services in our community and state.  This will be an informal, casual gathering: consumers, family, members, friends, and providers are encouraged to attend this important discussion to share their questions, concerns, and priorities for mental health care needs!

Special Guest Speaker: Craig Wood, Director, Linn County Mental Health and Developmental Disability Services (MHDD)

MHDD is the county agency responsible for managing the financing of services for people with mental retardation, mental illness, and developmental disabilities.  Mr. Wood will plan to discuss a variety of topics related to these services, including legislative funding issues and advocacy opportunities.
