Position Opening for Executive Director
The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Mississippi, a non-profit, education, support and advocacy organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for those affected by mental illness and their families, is seeking an Interim Executive Director.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Effectively and efficiently conduct activities of NAMI Mississippi to achieve the mission and goals of the agency including education, support and advocacy activities related to mental illness.
s and oversee s day to day operations of the organization including maintenance of appropriate legal, financial, personnel and other records necessary to operation s of the organization.
- Procures new sources of revenue for organizational projects, including grant writing and fund raising events.
- Hires, supervises and evaluates all paid staff of the organization in compliance with current federal, state and local laws regulating the activities.
- Coordinates and provides networking between all three levels of NAMI (national, state and local) to assure accurate and timely communication.
This position Reports to the NAMI Mississippi Board of Directors and assists Board in developing and implementing annual budget and long-term strategic plans for the organization.
Ideal candidate will have a background in mental health/illness, mental health public policy issues, experience with NAMI programs, strategic planning, fiscal management, fund raising, and advocacy. Good oral and written communication skills, knowledge and experience with board, staff, and volunteer management, public speaking, ability to work with diverse groups, strong organizational and administrative skills, proficient in computer skills. Grant writing preferred.
