The Family-to-Family
Education Program in Cambridge

… helping families care for a loved one with a mental illness

6:30-9 p.m.:

  • Thursdays, September 11 - December 11, 2014 (excluding Thanksgiving and Rosh Hashanah)

The NAMI Family-to-Family (F2F) Education Program is a FREE 12-week course for family caregivers of individuals with a severe brain disorder, i.e. mental illness. The course is co-taught by trained family member volunteers. It meets in weekly sessions of 2 ½ hours for 12 consecutive weeks. Class size is limited and preregistration is required.

The Family-to-Family curriculum includes:

  • Information about major depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder (manic depression), panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, & borderline personality disorder
  • Basic information about medications and side effects
  • Coping skills; handling crisis and relapse
  • Listening and communication techniques
  • Problem solving and limit setting
  • Rehabilitation; community services
  • Advocacy; fighting discrimination and stigma
