It pays to invest in NAMI-Metropolitan Baltimore!
Your support is critical to sustain NAMI’s programs! The American Institute of Philanthropy (AIP), the nation’s leading charity watchdog, awarded NAMI an A+ rating for its cost-effective charitable spending and fundraising practices. NAMI was one of only 18 groups in the country receiving an A+ rating out of hundreds of non-profits. NAMI-Metropolitan Baltimore, Inc. is an affiliate of NAMI and uses more than 79% of funds raised for direct programs and services. In addition, all of its programs and services are volunteer-based. There are a wide variety of ways to make a gift to NAMI:

General Donations: Are made to support programs and projects. Any size gift is appreciated.
In-Kind Donations: Used cars; office supplies; computers; professional skills (call office to discuss).
Donations for Special Purposes:
- Memorial Gifts often in lieu of flowers: NAMI sends a card to the deceased’s family notifying them of the gift while a thank you/receipt is sent to the donor.
- Honorary Gifts for any occasion: birthdays, weddings, retirement- other notable occasions: NAMI sends a card to the honoree notifying them of the gift while the donor receives a thank you/receipt.

Leaving a Bequest:
Your will is an important part of an effective estate plan. It directs how to transfer your assets to those people and charitable organizations you care about. It is important to consult an attorney when drafting your will: each state has its own unique requirements. Some types of bequests:
- Unrestricted bequest: “I give, devise, and bequeath to NAMI-Metropolitan Baltimore , located at the sum of $___ (or ___ percent of real or personal property herein described), for the general purpose of the organization, at the discretion of its Board of Directors.”
- Restricted bequest: “I give, devise, and bequeath to NAMI-Metropolitan Baltimore , located at 5210 York Road, Baltimore, MD 21212, the sum of $___ or ___ percent or (real personal property herein described), to be used for the purpose of _____.” [e.g. “education programs,” etc.]
- Residuary bequest (leaves any remaining assets from your estate after all other obligations have been met): “I give, devise, and bequeath to NAMI-Metropolitan Baltimore, located at 5210 York Road, Baltimore, MD 21212, all the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate, both real and personal, of every kind of description, wherever situated and whether now owned or hereafter acquired, including any property with respect to which I may have power of appointment.”
Charitable Gift Annuity: For a minimum of $10,000, a charitable gift annuity will provide you with:
- An income for life paid quarterly
- A guaranteed return often greater than money market rates (for example, a donor at age 75 earns 7.9%)
- An immediate charitable income tax deduction
- Reduction in capital gains taxes if the gift is made with appreciated securities
- A chance to support NAMI-Metropolitan Baltimore, Inc.
- Membership in a leadership club through the national NAMI

Car Donation: NAMI-Metropolitan Baltimore uses an efficiently managed vehicle donation program in the country and will provide a quick and easy disposition of most donated vehicles nationwide at no cost to you!
IMPORTANT: NAMI-Metropolitan Baltimore will get the MOST from your contribution if you use the form attached below to donate your car. Print out the form and fax it to us at 410-435-0355 or email the information to namimetrobaltimore@yahoo.com. Using ANY other method will cost us $50 to process so please fax or email your information to us.
