The guest speaker at the January 27 meeting of NAMI of Miami will be Dr. Amy Weisman de Mamani, Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Miami and the Associate Director of the Clinical Adult Division in the Department of Psychology. Her topic will be Results of a Study Comparing a Family-focused Culturally Informed Therapy to Family Psychoeducation for Patients with Schizophrenia. Dr. Weisman has been affiliated with the University of Miami in Coral Gables since 2001. Prior to that she was an assistant professor of psychology at the University of Massachusetts-Boston for five years.

Among her primary research interests are Family factors related to the onset and course of schizophrenia, dementia, and bipolar disorder.
