PROOF-READING VOLUNTEER HELP WANTED!

WHAT
NAMI-Albuquerque, the local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, needs someone to proof-read their 8-10 page quarterly newsletter, The Challenger.
HOW LONG WOULD TAKE?
Around 3 hours once every three months.
WHAT DO I NEED?
You need to have good written English skills and be able to spot typographic errors.
You need to have easy internet access via DSL or Broadband and Adobe Acrobat so that you can download the pdf of our newsletter to proof-read it. A printer would make the job very much easier. You need to have an e-mail account.
WHEN DO I NEED TO DO IT?
When the newsletter is almost ready to go to the printer, once every three months, you need to be available to receive a telephone call from the editor who will say, ‘we are ready for the proof-reading’. Then you will receive an e-mail with the pdf of the newsletter attached for proof-reading. In an 8-page newsletter, there might be an average of ten small typos.
We usually put the newsletter out at the beginning of January, April, July, October but there is some variation.
HOW DO I FIND OUT MORE?
e-mail the editor, Rosalind Arden, at:
membrane@nm.net
INFORMATION VERIFICATION VOLUNTEER

We need a volunteer to act as checker for a contact list of referrals to mental health services, support groups, emergency service providers, and other community resources for persons with mental illness and their families. We are revising our listings and, when the list is done, we will need a volunteer to make perhaps 40 phone calls to be sure that the information, addresses, contact names and phone numbers are correct. If you are interested, please e-mail Cathey at cgerber77@msn.com or phone 897-2947.
WEBSITE ASSISTANCE VOLUNTEER

NAMI Albuquerque is looking for a volunteer to help maintain their website ( www.nami.org/sites/albuquerque ). Some of the volunteer's activities would include adding and deleting information from the website, using an HTML editor to create new pages, finding and/or soliciting and adding local, state and national articles and links on mental health issues, etc.
The time requirements vary but about two to three hours a week might be a good guess. These tasks can be performed from your home desktop or laptop computer and will require very little traveling to and from the NAMI Albuquerque's office, which is located at 6001 Marble Ave. NE, Suite 7. If you have an interest in this type of volunteer work, please e-mail John M. at nami_abq@juno.com.
