The NEW NAMI Dubuque Office is Open!
NAMI Dubuque is proud to announce that our new office is open! It is located in the Schmid Innovation Center at 900 Jackson Street, Suite LL5-2B, Dubuque, Iowa. Our office hours are 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM Monday-Friday. Our phone number is 563-557-NAMI (563-557-6264). Stop in to see us or give us a call. We will be glad to give you information about our NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) meetings and programs. If you miss us during our office hours, your call will be forwarded to a member on the NAMI Dubuque Board.
EDUCATIONAL AND CARE/SHARE MEETINGS
**NOTE** All meetings will now be held in the lower level Millwork Collective area in the Schmid Innovation Center (old CARADCO Building) at 900 Jackson, Dubuque. All meetings are free and open to the public.
FAMILY TO FAMILY EDUCATION COURSE
The next Family to Family Education Course begins in early September, 2014. It is a free series of classes with a class meeting weekly for twelve weeks. The course is structured to help friends and/or family members understand and support individuals with mental illness while maintaining their own well-being. Please contact the NAMI Office at 563-557-6462 for more information. Pre-registration is required and the class is limited to 20 persons.
PEER TO PEER EDUCATION COURSE
The next Peer to Peer Education Course begins in early September, 2014. It is a free series of 10 classes that meets weekly for adults living with mental illness. The course provides an educational setting focused on recovery that offers respect, understanding, encouragement and hope. July 15, 2014 Multicultural Event at the Dubuque Multicultural Family Center at 5:30 PM, 1157 Central Avenue Dubuque, Iowa
July is National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month. We are planning an event at the Dubuque Multicultural Family Center, 1157 Central Avenue, beginning at 5:30 PM. The Film “Hidden Pictures: A Personal Journey into Global Mental Health” will be shown at the center. This is an internationally acclaimed film produced by Delaney Ruston. Over 450 million people globally have a mental health condition. The film explores the culture, policies and individual stories from several countries including India, China, South Africa, France and the United States. A discussion with those attending will follow the film. This is a free event.
