Margie Armstrong: A NAMI-Tallahassee member 5 years. She is interested in mental health issues within the community and believes involvement with the affiliate will allow her to work with others interested in like issues to ensure mutual goals are met. She has worked in the field of mental health for over 20 years both professionally and as a consumer of mental health services. She is Currently employed with Magellan Health Services as a Manager of Consumer Recovery Services.  Term expires 12/2016.

Denise Barber: A Volunteer with NAMI-Tallahassee for 2 years - assisting with monthly Socials, the TallyTIES Gala, coordination of the Canvas during Mental Illness Awareness Week, and a host of other activities. She is trained as a NAMI Basics teacher and is a mental-health consumer, with 15 years professional experience in mental-health related field in Tallahassee/Leon County that included oversight of NAMI Florida contract with the Department of Children and Families.

Bob Barnette: A member of NAMI since 1989. As treasurer for the affiliate he prepares all the necessary reports to maintain the affiliate's IRS tax-exempt status as well as State corporation and solicitation annual documents. He also maintains membership records, submitting new and renewed membership data and payments to NAMI National. He has 40 years of managerial and administrative experience with the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Florida State University.

Cindy Foster: A active member since September 2013, she joined NAMI-Tallahassee after attending a Family-to-Family class. A frequent attendee of Board meetings, she is familiar with the Board functions and a frequent volunteer the affiliate's Saturday Socials. She looks for opportunities to contribute to the NAMI mission and is an advocate in the community, focusing on children, adolescents and the public and private school systems. She recently completed the NAMI Basics instructor training, as well as End the Silence -- both NAMI signature education programs.

Nancy Fruin is a psychiatric nurse practitioner at the Apalachee Center. She works with many clients with severe issues, including clients who are homeless, forensic clients and family members. She has been a NAMI member for many years and feels her personal and professional experience would be an asset.  Nancy is a NAMI Family-to-Family teacher, and currently serves as a co-facilitator of NAMI Tallahassee’s monthly support group.  Term expires 12/2017

Matt Lieberhaut: He is a proud husband and father of two young boys, and native of Broward County, Florida. He graduated magna cum laude from Florida State University and completed his JD at FSU College of Law. He practices disability, elder, and family law. He is a member of Leadership Tallahassee Class 28. He founded and serves as Vice-President of the non-profit organization, TallyTIES. He serves on the Board of Directors of Big Bend Cares as well as a Guardian ad Litem in the Second Judicial Circuit of Florida. He is eager to help NAMI Tallahassee expand its reach in our community.

Nancy O'Farrell has been a NAMI member for 5-6 years and active with the affiliate for 3-4 years working specifically with membership and database coordination. She is a NAMI Basics teacher and is interested in growing NAMI’s signature education programs and increasing community outreach -- building on an existing great program. Term expires 12/2017

Dick Stephens: A NAMI-Tallahassee member for over 15 years, a Family-to-Family teacher since 2001, and the advocacy coordinator for Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) since 2005. He served as the NAMI representative to the Mental Health Advisory Board for the entirety of the existence of that body, and currently represent NAMI-Tallahassee on the Leon County Public Safety Coordinating Council. He also volunteers as a Guardian Advocate, and was a member of the Apalachee Center's FACT Advisory Board for over 5 years, including 2 years as chair. He believes that a Board position would allow the creation of a more direct and sustainable connection between NAMI Tallahassee and it's community partners. He has a Master's degree in Genetics, retiring from state government after 30 years. Term expires 12/2016. 

Marsha Slade: A NAMI member for 10+ years, she has served as NAMI-Tallahassee's recording secretary for the past 2 years. She is a certified Family-to-Family teacher and has taught and assisted with classes since 2003. She is a graduate of Florida State University and works at the Department of Health. Prior to that, she was a dental hygienist and taught dental hygiene. Marsha is married to Fred Slade and has one grown daughter.

David Steingart is a social worker who specializes in recovery oriented practice. Originally from the New York City area, he graduated with an MSW from Columbia University and has worked in a variety of clinical settings. He is a trained presenter of In Our Own Voice, a NAMI signature program.  David testified before Florida’s Legislature to over-turn “fail first” restrictions created by insurance companies that prevent consumers from receiving the optimal medication for mental illness. He is open about being diagnosed with bipolar disorder and has committed time to helping others recover from persistent mental illness both as a clinician and advocate. Term expires 12/2017

Doris Strong: Mrs. Strong has served as the affiliate's Sharing Hope Coordinator for three years. She has also occupied the position of vice-president on the Board of Directors.
