I am so excited and humbled to begin my tenure as the new Executive Director of NAMI Metro Baltimore. As with most of you, mental illness is a cause that has touched my life and my heart.
In the next few months, I will be working with the dedicated NAMI staff to determine ways that we can provide even better service to even more people. We all know that we only touch a fraction of the individuals and families who need our support.
We want to partner with others and communicate to the larger community what NAMI has to offer. We want to advocate effectively and passionately for the rights of those with mental illness. We want to give our volunteers the recognition they deserve and the support they need.
In that spirit, I hope you will be joining us at the NAMI Metro Baltimore Annual Meeting on September 15. Registration is available online, but just let me note that it is going to be an evening of new beginnings for NAMI, as we start a new fiscal year with a new Executive Director and a new sense of purpose.
Dr. Jeff Richardson, CEO of Mosaic Services will be our keynote speaker. He will talk not only about his family’s personal journey, but about the most recent trends and issues in mental health. We will honor Senator Delores Kelley, a strong advocate for NAMI in the Maryland Legislature. But most importantly, we will celebrate our volunteers, who work so tirelessly to help others.
I look forward to meeting each of you. My door at NAMI is always open to our members. It is a privilege to serve you.
With warmest regards,
NAMI Metro Baltimore
