MENTAL ILLNESS AWARENESS WEEK (MIAW)

Please join us for MIAW activities and events during the first week of October!
What is happening during Mental Illness Awareness Week?
· Thursday October 1: NAMI Dallas Gala. Online tickets are available at namidallas.org
· Saturday, October 3: NAMI Tarrant County Walk at Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens. Join our team at nami.org/walk You can find our team by searching for Matt Roberts.
· Sunday, October 4: Ask your congregation to focus on Mental Illness. NAMI Faithnet has many resources for congregations. click here to visit their page at nami.org.
· Monday, October 5: Kick off the week, reception at the Achievement Through the Arts show (1/2 Price Books, NW Hwy and Greenville) 4:00 to 6:00 pm.
· Tuesday, October 6: Mental Illness Awareness Week Proclamation—Join us at the Commissioner’s Court at 411 Elm St., Dallas. Court begins at 9:00 am.
· Wednesday, October 7: Lunch and Learn at the Center for Community Cooperation 11:00 to 2:00 pm. Social Work CEUs with ethics credits will be offered. There will be no charge for the event. RSVP to 214-341-7133. Space is limited.
· Thursday, October 8: Lee’s Story Video at Med. City Dallas, Building E. 7:00 pm. (Monthly NAMI meeting, support groups at 6pm)
· Friday, October 9: Special screening of ‘The Soloist’ 7:00 pm. Location: Fellowship Bible Church (9330 N. Central Expressway - Near Park & Central, behind Office Max) in the Fellowship Hall
· Saturday, October 10: HOPE4 Conference, for consumers and families 10:00 to 1:00 at Fellowship Bible Church near Park and Central. Contact Ricardo Aguilar to register at raguilar@mhadallas.org
· Sunday, October 11: Family Picnic & Candlelight Vigil at Stone Tables Picnic Area, Buckner & Lake Highlands Rd. 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Bring a picnic, NAMI Will provide drinks if you RSVP to 214-341-7133
Mental Illness Awareness Week takes place the first week in October of each year around the nation to raise awareness about mental illness and to provide the opportunity for local communities to organize events and activities to educate their public. As October approaches, NAMI Dallas will publish information about his year's Mental Illness Awareness Week including an event schedule and details.
