EDUCATION MEETINGS: FIRST THURSDAY OF EACH MONTH AT 7:00 PM

Dr. Karen Truman, author of The Caregivers Little Book of Hope, is the founder and president of Dementia Caregiver Resources. Dementia Caregivers Resources share coping methods as a guide for the “Pathless Path”. Dr. Truman’s work focuses on hope, help, heart, light, growth and love. She is passionate about her mission to educate, support and provide resources to family and professional caregivers in a compassionate and kindhearted manner.

Attorney Sean W. Scott, whose practice focuses on the legal issues of aging, will present Age With Confidence. The presentation will include easy to understand explanations of how Medicaid works, tips on saving assets and your way of life, and how to manage long term care costs.

Family-to-Family is a free 12-week course for family and friends of individuals with serious mental illness.  It covers signs and symptoms of many disorders; problem-solving, communication and empathy workshops; medication review; information on rehabilitation, fighting stigma and advocacy.  It is taught by trained NAMI family members.  Attendees must attend all 12 classes. More information on the National Family to Family Education Program

PEER TO PEER CLASSES

New 9-week course begins in the Spring.This course teaches about major psychiatric disorders, how psychiatrists make their diagnoses, ways to avoid a relapse and gives insight into how our illness has changed our lives. Three NAMI trained veteran consumers will facilitate this course.
