GENERAL MEMBERSHIP in NAMI ELLIS COUNTY

Who We Are

NAMI Ellis County is a voluntary self-help organization that addresses the needs of persons with severe mental illnesses and their families through support, education and advocacy.  It is affiliated with NAMI Texas and NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), a grassroots organization founded in 1979 in Madison, Wisconsin by a small group of desperate parents.  Currently NAMI has more than 221,000 members in more than 1200 affiliates from all 50 states. 

Who We Help

Families help families.  Emotional support, shared problems and experiences, together with resources, services and education empower families to survive, focus on stability and become a vital force for change.  Improving the lives and future of prsons with mental illnesses helps all members of the families as well as society.  Consumers, professionals and friends join families to become a powerful "voice on mental illness."

How We Help

NAMI Ellis County provides information, resources and support.

NAMI Ellis County advocates for improved and equitable services and nondiscriminatory funds at local, state and federal levels for persons with mental illnesses.  NAMI Ellis County advocates for a community continuum of care, adequate treatment, therapy and support systems.  NAMI Ellis County advocates for effective new generation medications, supported housing, social and job skills rehabilitation, and employment.  NAMI Ellis County advocates for appropriate health care and insurance parity.

Membership Categories

NAMI Ellis County has several different membership categories with different annual dues.  In all cases, the dues and contributions are tax-deductible.
