NAMIWalks is a 5K Walk event designed to increase NAMI’s visibility in the community in order to raise awareness about mental illness, and raise funds to support NAMI programs across North Texas. Every year, the Walk helps people understand the impact that mental illness has on their communities; the prevalence and indiscriminate nature of these illnesses; the fact that recovery is possible if treatment is available; and about the hope that NAMI provides. As we grow and add to the number of people that know about NAMI and understand the important role NAMI plays in their lives, we also reduce the number of people who have misconceptions about mental illness and those that are affected by it.

This year's Walk will take place at Fair Park on Saturday, May 10, at 9:00 a.m., with registration starting at 7:00 a.m.

The event is family and dog friendly! You can help support our Walk in many different ways, which may include:

Commit to forming a Walk Team and providing its first contribution
Lead by example in developing a Team and/or implementing a Team fundraising campaign
Help identify and/or recruit corporate sponsors (both cash and in-kind)
Promote the Walk by recruiting Team Captains and Walkers
Lead and/or support one of the following key activities in the Walk:
 Volunteer coordinator
 Sponsorship Campaign
 Media
 Walk Day
 Entertainment

Proceeds from this fun event will be used by NAMI Dallas and other NAMI affiliates (this includes NAMI of Collin County) across North Texas to increase our support and education offerings for people with mental illness and their families.
