CURRENTLY SEEKING:   Volunteer Coordinator                                         

Volunteer Coordinator should have:

  1. Organizational and attention to detail skills
  2. Interpersonal and communication skills
  3. Phone accessibility
  4. Computer skills

Volunteer is responsible for the following tasks:

  1. Manage Volunteer Program
  • Contact volunteers from forms gathered at Family to Family classes and Support Group meetings to identify potential interest
  • Contact volunteers from other sources to identify potential interest
  • Assigns responsibilities
  • Works with all volunteers

2.   Maintains volunteer database

  • Keep accurate information on active volunteers and current tasks assigned
  • Provides this information to Office Staff Support as changes occur

3.  Keep the following people informed as to available volunteer opportunities:

  • NAMI affiliate President
  • NAMI affiliate office support staff (for the website and newsletter)



Teachers first go through the class they will be teaching as a student. Then will take an expenses paid weekend training session to learn how to teach the class. You must be a dues paying NAMI member and willing to teach two classes after successfully completing the training. This is our area of most pressing need for volunteers. This allows us to reach out and provide help and support to those with mental illness and their families Contact 309-287-9913 or by email at


Make presentations about NAMI to interested local groups. Setup NAMI booth and answer questions regarding NAMI at events in the area. Materials are provided, need someone available during daytime hours. Further training if desired by state NAMI to develop speaking or presentation skills. Contact 309-287-9913.

Politically active people interested in contacting state/local officials and advocacy
