Monthly Education Meeting


We have a Guest Speaker the last Monday of every month (except November & December) who will discuss a different topic of interest concerning mental health.  The meeting takes place at the NAMI Greater Milwaukee office, 3732 W. Wisconsin Ave., Suite 106. Entrance off the parking lot (in rear).

Informational Meeting - Community Care, Inc.

Sue Miller, Community Outreach Coordinator, will present resource information on Community Care, Inc. Community Care is a non-progit organization which provides integrated and cost-effective long-term care for adults with physical and intellectual disabilities. Their services are member focused, which enables the individual to achieve the best possible outcome while living as independently as possible. There will be a discussion after the presentation regarding long-term care.

Peer-to-Peer is a unique, experiential learning program for people with any mental illness who are interested in establishing and maintaining their wellness and recovery.  Peer-to-Peer consists of ten 2-hour units and is taught by two NAMI-trained "Mentors" and one Volunteer who are personally experienced at living well with mental illness.

Family-to-Family is an educational course for family, friends and caregivers of individuals living with mental illness.

WRAP Group (Bilingual)

 WRAP GROUP for Spanish Speakers

Wellness Recovery Action Plan

We will provide the materials needed to help you begin to develop your personal action plan. Group discussion will be facilitated by Serge Blasberg, State Certified Peer Specialist, trained in developing WRAP plans, and Bilingual co-facilitator Jeanette Arellano. Recovery is attained through hard work, self awareness and knowledge. Come join us as we support one another in our pursuit of living productive, healthy and socially satisfying lives. This group is FREE, and works best when completing the full four weeks.

This group also provides the opportunity to teach individuals to help others develop their own WRAP plans. While this is not a formal "train the trainer", we will try to help you develop the skills needed to effectively work with others.

"Pieces - In My Own Voice"


NAMI's own Education and Outreach Coordinator, Brenda Wesley, has written and produced a Play;  It is titled "Pieces, In My Own Voice", and it's a thought-provoking theatrical production depicting the lives of People Living With A Mental Health Diagnosis.  To date, over 3,000 people have seen it and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

The class begins on (To Be Announced) and is scheduled to run for 12 weeks.

NAMI Basics


·       Is your child “out of control”?  Have you “tried everything”?

·       Are you (or others) questioning your parenting skills?

·       Do you wonder or has anyone suggested your child might have ADD/ADHD, anxiety, depression or any other type of “illness of the brain”?

·       Has your child recently been diagnosed with a mental illness or brain disorder?

·       Has the diagnosis provided an explanation for some of the behaviors, but raising a whole new set of frightening questions?

·       Are you feeling confused, isolated, concerned or unsure about where to go from here?


 We have been where you are and we want to help!

NAMI Basics is taught by trained parents who have lived similar experiences with their own children. NAMI Basics is an educational program that provides learning and practical insights designed specifically for parents and primary caregivers of children or adolescents living with a mental illness. 

 This FREE 6 week Course curriculum includes: 

  • The trauma of mental illness for the child and the family
  • The biology of mental illness:  getting an accurate diagnosis
  • The latest research on the medical aspects of the illness and advances in treatment
  • An overview of treatment options – treatment works
  • The impact of a child’s mental illness on the rest of the family – caregivers and siblings
  • An overview of the systems involved in caring for children and teens
