The Consumer Council is a network of consumers which uses a board member configuration tht requires one responsible local contact in towns across the state. These contacts collectively make up the state board. The Consumer Council is an advisory group to the NAMI South Dakota Board of Directors. The president of the Consumer Council has a permanent seat on the State Board of Directors and is charged with bringing information and concerns from the group to the collective board of directors. Interested consumers may become a part of this effort by contacting hte state president and volunteering. The responsibility of a local board member is to establish a peer support group in that community and to assist in keeping it going.

The state Consumer Council president is Tammy Hyde. She can be reached at tamerahyde1947@yahoo.com.

The mission of the Consumer Council is to provide support for each other while fighting stigma through education efforts in their home communities.

We utilize the In Our Own Voice presentation in this effort. To arrange for a presentation in your community call 1-800-551-2531 (state office).
If you wish to become a trained presenter, call the state office.
