Support

NAMI Gwinnett holds monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of every month, unless otherwise announced, at 7:30pm in the fellowship hall of Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church. Be there at 7:00pm for a deli style dinner before the meeting.

There are also structured support meetings meeting on the remaining Tuesdays for consumers (those with a diagnosis) called NAMI Connections and a seperate support meeting for family members and friends.

There is another support group for those affected by brain disorders outside of our organization, called SAFE that meet at this church.

SAFE, standing for Survivors Achieving Functional Equilibrium, is for survivors, or consumers, of mental health services (those with a diagnosis). They meet every Friday night at 7:00 pm. SAFE provides an informal atmosphere with various topics being discussed. This group meets at Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church as well.

Our monthly meetings feature guest speakers who discuss with the group a variety of relevant topics, some of which have included suicide prevention, rehabilitation, and will/estate planning. There are also opportunities to meet in small groups for support and encouragement.

Directions to our meeting from the intersection of I-285 and I-85:

Go north towards Gainesville on I–85 to Sugarloaf Parkway.   Exit right or east and go to highway US 29.  Turn left towards Lawrenceville on US 29 and the church will be found on the right side of the highway 3.8 miles north of the intersection of US 29 and Sugarloaf.  The church is 1.8 miles south of the intersection of US 29 and GA 120 in down town Lawrenceville.
