SOS--Stomp Out Stigma--is a reason why we walk.  We want to inform the community that mental illness is REAL.

1 in 4 people are affected by a mental health disorder in any one year.

2014 Walk will be held at Atlanta's Piedmont Park

and this year a 5K Run has been added.

Saturday, November 1

WHY WALK?

Did you know that 90% of the revenue remains in Georgia and helps support the free educational and support programs that we offer.  Register and designate NAMI Rome and we will get 50%.  The most recent success story of money well spent is in Dalton.  NAMI Rome held an evening "lunch and learn" and well over 50 people attended.  From this event we gathered a core group of people from Dalton who began attending two monthly support groups.  This September we are conducting a Family-to-Family class in Dalton.  Next step is to help the group continue to grow and eventually to form its on affiliate.

We have set a goal to raise $15,000 this year.  Of which we plan to raise $2500 from businesses and $12,500 from individual walkers.  The formula to reach the individual walker goal is to form 12-13 teams, each with 10 walkers, and each walker raises $100.  We hope that the above explanation of where the money goes will help you explain why you support NAMI.
