Upcoming Monthly Programs

July 20, 2009: "Advice from Us to Us." Using the same format as last year's popular panel, several NAMI West Houston members will share their experiences and tips on coping with crises and everyday challenges. 

August 17, 2009: "What's Ahead for Harris County's Felony Mental Health Court." Harris County has created a new felony court specifically to handle defendants with a mental illness diagnosis. Judge Jan Krocker, who will head the new court, will discuss the challenges of establishing the new system, the timeline and potential parameters.

September 21, 2009: "Eight Years After Andrea Yates." Attorney George Parnham will speak on how the Andrea Yates homicide case changed him and his ongoing effort to modify Texas laws on insanity defense.

About Our Monthly Programs

Our monthly speaker programs feature local experts on issues ranging from medications to insurance and legal issues. Meetings are free and open to the public. We typically meet on the third Monday of every month.

MEETING LOCATION:  Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, 12955 Memorial Drive, Houston 77079, Room D126

The church is on the south side of Memorial, between Beltway 8 and Wilcrest.   Park in the back at the east end of the Church.  Enter through double doors marked Education Center.  D-126 is on the right after the foyer.
