New NAMI DVD video now available
A powerful message about how NAMI has helped individuals.
Includes comments about our education and support outreach.
Greetings to all! I hope this finds you and your families well and happy! More important than reading this, please turn to all the information in this issue about the wonderful Spring Gala held in May.
Our committee, led by Board Member Jeanne Fisherkeller, worked hard to make this the best NAMI Gala ever! We hope you were able to attend. It was a blast, and of course there was chocolate. Plus, all profit goes to our NAMI Affiliate programs. It takes money to keep our ship sailing.
Speaking of money, I, along with our Board of Directors and Advisory Board, give our heart-felt thanks to Central Florida Behavioral Health Network (CFBHN). Our Affiliate was awarded non-recurring state money through CFBHN, and we have wasted no time putting it to great use.
Since receiving these funds in December, our programs and educational services have exploded! We are able to touch so many more lives thanks to CFBHN. We have expanded our services to the VA as well as St. Petersburg College.
Our Family Support group has grown so much, we moved our Board Meeting time and place to make room and have more facilitators available. If it continues to grow, we can have our BOD Meetings in a garage, as long as people are getting the help and support they need.
I also want to give a special thank you to Dick Durstein. Dick and his wife Nancy (who recently passed away) have given so much of their time, talent and treasure to NAMI. Dick continues his long tenure as “Central Command” for our Helpline and does it with a smile on his face.
Finally, NAMI Pinellas is growing! We need volunteer families and consumers to lead our signature courses and support groups. Please call our Executive Director Gay Hawk for details on ways you can make a difference.
Thanks again for helping make our affiliate one of the best and most active in the state!
Until Next Time, Peace and all that is good! Brian
