If you are in a crisis, call the Howard County Mobile Crisis Team (MCT) at (410) 531 - 6677. MCT is a two-member team of mental health professionals whose primary objective is to assist people in handling and managing emotional, traumatic or psychiatric crises. MCT is available 9:00 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week.

MCT responds to:

Sucide threats or attempts, intense family or parent/child conflict, psychiatric or behavioral emergencies, crisis situations and traumatic events, child/adolescents with serious emotional difficulties.

(410) 531 - 6677 also connects you to the Grassroots Crisis Intervention Hotline.  The Hotline  is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

HOWARD COUNTY MENTAL HEALTH AUTHORITY

For information about mental health services in Howard County, telephone the Howard County Mental Health Authority (HCMHA) at (410) 313-7350. 

The Howard County Mental Health Authority (HCMHA) is the Core Service Agency (CSA) for Howard County responsible for planning, managing, and monitoring publicly funded mental health services.

The HCMHA publishes a Directory of Mental Health Services in Howard County.  See the link at the bottom of the page.

Network of Care Behavioral Health:

The Network of Care for Behavioral Health is a resource for individuals, families and agencies concerned with behavioral health. It provides information about behavioral health services, laws, and related news, as well as communication tools and other features.

The Care Center provides information and referrals by phone or online about a range of children's services and issues, including development, behavior, and mental health.

RESOURCES FOR OLDER ADULTS

Maryland Access Point (MAP) is the aging and disability resource center portion of the Howard County Office on Aging.  Specialists provide information, assistance, referrals, and long term supports counseling to persons 18 years and older with a disability, persons 50 years and older, caregivers, health and business professionals. MAP works in partnership with most other county agencies to connect people with the appropriate and available and resources whether they are in crisis or planning for the long term.
