NAMI-FVCT sponsors the following community support groups which are free of charge and open to the public:
NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group - This a peer-based mutual support group for people facing the challenges of recovering from serious mental illness. It focuses on allowing participants to share their experiences and learn from each other in a safe environment where everyone has something to contribute and learn. Connection groups are held in various state locations. The West Hartford group meets Tuesdays from 6:30 - 8PM at the Covenant Congregational Church on 1 Westminster Drive, off Sedgwick Road. 6/19 group is CANCELLED and encouraging people to go to the annual meeting at Farmington Library, but welcome to come on 6/5, 6/12 and back on 6/26
NAMI Friends & Family Support Group - This group meets the 3rd Monday of each month from 7-8:30 PM at the Valley Community Baptist Church in Avon, CT. It is open to families and friends of people with mental illness and focuses on sharing experiences and information. It is facilitated by volunteer NAMI-FVCT member who have been trained in support group failiation. For more information, contact: Janet at 860-620-7717.
