Many community resources are available for people with mental illness. We list here ones we think will be of interest to people with severe and persistant mental illness, their friends and families in Oregon.

Portland Metro Area
(Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington Counties)
CHILDREN AND FAMILIES
Provides a wide range of mental health services for children and support for their families. Offices located in Portland, Gresham, Washington County, Lane County, and Albany.
Provides a comprehensive continuum of mental health, substance abuse, and prevention services for children from birth through age 21 in the Portland metro area. Programs and services vary in intensity and length of treatment. Services include outpatient, day treatment, foster care, and residential.
Help to families and residential treatment for adolescents (ages 12 to 17) with emotional, behavioral, or substance abuse problems.
Oregon families supporting Oregon families with children and adolescents with emotional, behavioral, mental and/or physical challenges and special needs. Services include toll-free health information line, support groups, resource referral, and individualized peer support for navigating multiple child-serving agencies. Offices located in Milwaukie, Eugene, and Salem.
Located on the 7th floor of Doernbecher Childrens Hospital, the Clinic's services include consultation, diagnostic evaluation, parent guidance (in conjunction with child's therapy), family therapy, psychopharmacological evaluation and treatment, and specialty treatment for mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and ADHD.
Provides interdisciplinary clinical services for persons with developmental disabilities and other special health care needs at sites in Eugene and Portland. Also offers outreach clinical services covering a variety of special health needs in Grants Pass, Klamath Falls, Medford, and Roseburg and community programs in most Oregon counties.
State agency responsible for handling young criminal offenders. They provide information about treatment services and programs for youth offenders.
Provides family services in Clackamas County including the Addiction Recover Team, which acts as advocates for parents struggling with alcohol and/or drug addiction, and parent training, including classes covering behavior management, communication, child development, stress, and anger management.
A residential center in southeast Portland offering therapy for children who may be disruptive, sometimes uncontrollable, or may become a danger to themselves or others.
Provides mental and behavioral healthcare for children in Oregon. Levels of care range from preventative community-based programs to intensive residential treatment with innovative practices such as equine, canine, and horticultural therapies.
COUNSELING/OUTPATIENT SERVICES
Mental health and addictions specialists offering evaluations and individual, family, and group therapy.
A multicultural, adult outpatient treatment clinic offering culturally-specific services for clients identifying with African, African-American, and Southeast Asian cultures. Treats many disorders including depression, anxiety, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress, bipolar and psychotic disorders, substance abuse/dependence, and gambling.
Mental health treatment services for children, adolescents, and adults in both inpatient and outpatient settings located throughout the Portland metropolitan area. CareMark Behavioral Health Services is a joint venture between Adventist Health System/West and Legacy Health.
Services at three community clinics include mental health case management and counseling services, medication prescribing, and addictions treatment.
Outpatient services for patients with mental health and chemical dependency problems.
Minimal-cost mental health clinic designed to provide services to the uninsured and underinsured citizens of Yamhill County and the surrounding area.
Counseling and therapy services for individuals of all ages, as well as for couples and families experiencing distress in areas of mental health, addictions, and relationship issues. Sliding scale fee structure ranging from $10 - $50 per session. The initial intake/assessment has a flat rate fee of $15. Counselor and therapist trainees are advanced graduate-level students under the supervision of faculty and licensed professional supervisors.
Nonprofit community-based prevention, mental health and addiction services provider agency with sites throughout Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington counties. Certified and licensed by the state and county MHOs as provider for those with the Oregon Health Plan in all three metro area counties.
Outpatient mental health and alcohol and drug program providing individual, couple, and family counseling. Medicaid (OHP), Medicare, commercial insurances, and sliding fee scale accepted. Addresses the mental health needs of low-income, and/or English-limited individuals and families for whom existing services are inaccessible due to cost, language, and/or cultural barriers.

Low-cost counseling for individuals, couples, children, and families on a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship problems, PTSD, and behavioral issues. Group therapy $10/session, private sessions $20-85 depending on income. Students and veterans or active military service members pay $20 per session.
Offered for patients who are no longer in crisis but who need further support to recover from an illness. Available at Providence Portland Medical Center and
Providence St. Vincent Medical Center.
Provides low-cost individual, couple, and family counseling for clients who are able to come on a weekly basis, at the same time, for up to 10 weeks. Does not offer medication services or help during a mental health crisis. The cost is $15 per session. Operated by graduate students in counselor education who are supervised by faculty and interns.
Provides a wide range of services for residents of Washington County including individual and group therapy, case management, coping skills training, supported employment, subsidized housing, and residential treatment.
Outpatient behavioral health services including evaluations, medication evaluation and management, and individual, group, and family therapy.
Counseling available for families, couples and individuals. Children under age 14 are seen only if their parents are enrolled in family, couples, or individual counseling. A sliding scale fee of $5 to $30 is charged per session; no one is turned away for inability to pay. Residents of the Portland metropolitan area who do not have health insurance or resources to receive counseling may apply for counseling services by completing an application and questionnaire.
HOUSING
Operates more than 350 units of transitional and permanent housing for people with psychiatric disabilities.
Develops, owns, and operates rental housing for very low-income individuals and families as well as special need populations in western Oregon.
Nonprofit agency serving single adults and families in the Portland metro area who are impacted by homelessness, poverty, and addictions. Provides multiple affordable housing options integrated with direct social services including healthcare, recovery, and employment.

A program of Clackamas County Social Services; provides housing information and referral regarding landlord-tenant, fair housing, and other housing-related issues. Keeps a current list of lower cost/subsidized housing in Clackamas County. If resources are available, will provide referrals for rent assistance.

Limited emergency rent assistance for residents of Washington County.

DCHI has developed and manages two projects - Alder House (SROs) and Kearney House (families) with a total of 164 units of housing.
Affordable drug and alcohol free housing for the low-income population in a neighborhood, SRO facility.
Manages more than 300 units of affordable housing for low-income families and individuals in NE Portland.

Provides affordable housing for individuals and families who are challenged by income, disability, or special need.
A program of Lutheran Community Services Northwest serving women with children who are victims of domestic violence, in recovery from substance abuse, and/or are homeless. Social services provided include rent assistance, intensive case management, childcare assistance, and mental health care.
Website featuring a searchable database of affordable, accessible, and special needs housing using a variety of factors. Also provides a link to the 211info online directory of community services for other needs such as legal, medical, food, or mental health services.
Emergency (Day Break Shelter), transitional, and permanent affordable rental housing for low-income families. Also provides rent assistance, energy assistance, and job training and placement services.

Advocacy, information and referral, peer counseling, and skills training services to further the level of independence for all people with disabilities.
Provides affordable housing to individuals and families, along with services to help residents maintain their housing, access opportunities, and break the cycle of poverty.
Operates six supported-housing facilities with a total of 111 beds. Combines semi-independent affordable housing with wrap-around services to help individuals remain in stable housing and focus on a path toward recovery.
Builds and rehabilitates housing for seniors, families and people with special needs in 17 Oregon counties.
Provides housing services for seniors ages 55 and older in Multnomah County who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

A private not-for-profit organization providing privatized public health and integrated mental health services in Eastern Oregon.
Affordable counseling for adults, couples, families and children. Registered interns charge $50 or less, pre-graduate interns charge $10 or less. All the counseling performed by interns is overseen by licensed supervisors. Not oriented for crisis situations or addiction problems.

Subsidized studio and one-bedroom apartments, agency-owned units rented below market rates, and rural development subsidized apartments for elderly/disabled families and farm laborers.
