NAMI Lake County plays an active role in providing support and education for all those affected by mental illness. All NAMI support groups and education programs are free.

For Families, Caregivers or Friends of Adults with Mental Illness

Family-to-Family Education is a free 12 session program for families of individuals diagnosed with mental illness, including co-occurring disorders. The program covers a review of diagnoses, problem solving, communication skills, self-care, and advocacy.Classes are not diagnosis-specific, although specific information is given. Family-to-Family focuses first on the well-being of family members, though fresearch shows there are secondary benefits to the individual with an illness. Emphasis is on the common issues, needs, and concerns of family members.
Certification for those completing the course.

NAMI Bipolar Support Meetings are for persons over the age of 18 with Bipolar Disorder. This group is peer led and our facilitators can empathize with your feelings and concerns. These meetings provide a safe and confidential environment where you can talk about your hopes, fears and dreams. Learning to accept ones illness and adjust to the differences it makes in your life will help with both everyday problems and managing ones illness. Call 440-639-1200 or email: cfarmer@namilake.org

NAMI Young Families Support Group is a place for parents or caregivers of a child or adolescent under the age of 18 who has a mental illness or suffers from emotional disturbances. One-on-One Phone Support
One on one phone support is available for non-crisis situations, by trained staff and volunteers - consumers and family members – who are in a unique position to offer support and empathy from people who know what it's like and who have "been there."
