Ongoing support for family members and consumers is necessary in coping with the day-to-day challenges of living with mental illness. Support groups help participants connect with other people dealing with similar experiences. They also provide a safe place for sharing of feelings and experiences. Group members provide understanding and empathy which assists in the healing process by helping participants move from grief and pain to hope for the future.

NAMI Metropolitan Houston offers support groups thoughout the city and surrounding counties. The Family-to-Family and Visions for Tomorrow educational courses include an ongoing support group component and NAMI Connection is available as a support group for people with mental illness.

To find a support group near you, please click on "List of Support Groups" (on the menu bar on the left side).
