People with mental illness often qualify for services from DVR. You need to be disabled to qualify, but you do not have to be considered disabled by Social Security or other agencies. People who do not qualify for SSI or SSDI often qualify for services from DVR. DVR performs its own evaluation of your need for their services. Applications can be requested at their website.
DVR can provide a variety of help to disabled people. Your worker will be able to describe the specific services you qualify for. Some people qualify for job coaching, funds for college or technical school, and several items of appropriate clothing to interview for or hold a job. Costs associated with employment seeking or holding may be covered. Employment counseling may be covered as well.
There are three county offices that provide DVR services in our target area, and they are supervised by two regional offices.
