Family-to-Family is a 12-week educational course for the family, friends and caregivers of adults with mental illness starting winter 2014. The course is designed to provide people with the knowledge and skills to more effectively cope with having and caring for a mentally ill loved one. Taught by trained instructors who have direct experience caring for a loved one with mental illness. Course topics include handling crisis and relapse; coping with worry and stress; finding community supports and services; learning problem solving and communication techniques; gaining empathy; and more. NAMI Basics class forming. Dates and times TBA.
Basics is the new signature education program for parents and other caregivers of children and adolescents living with mental illnesses. The NAMI Basics course is taught by trained teachers who are the parent or other caregivers of individuals who developed the symptoms of mental illness prior to the age of 13 years. The course consists of six classes, each lasting for 2 ½ hours. Classes may be offered weekly for six consecutive weeks, or may be offered twice weekly for three weeks to accommodate the hectic schedules of parents. The course and all instruction materials are FREE to participants.Interested individuals should pre-register by contacting Cory Townsend by telephone, 949-547-3519, or Email, email@example.com.
