Updated 1/5/2014

  • Dr. Norman Peterson received the 2013 Washington State Provider of the Year Award after NAMI of Clallam County nominated him! The award comes at the same time that Dr. Peterson retires from an illustrious career in the mental health field.
  • In October, NAMI of Clallam County held the first annual Remembrance and Hope Ceremony at the Port Angeles Pier to recall those who have lost their lives to mental illness. (see home page photo)
  • In July 2014, a Washington State law takes effect that allows courts and mental health professions to consider information from family and friends about patients who face involuntary commitment to a treatment facility. This is a victory for NAMI and others concerned about the safety and well-being of all involved! NAMI has been solidly behind this effort!
  • Family-to-Family classes began September 19th.  For registration or information about Spring classes call 452-5244.

Help in applying is available free at Olympic Medical Center, Planned Parenthood, Volunteers in Medicine of the Olympics (VIMO) and Forks Community Hospital.
  • The annual Christmas party on December 21st was REALLY FUN! Good food, friends and gifts.

You receive the quarterly NAMI magazine, the NAMI Advocate, our local newsletter, and the quarterly national publication, NAMI Voice. These publications are packed with information about issues, research, recovery, and happenings around the country.
  • Are you interested in volunteering locally to advance mental health treatment and services? There are ways you can help, regardless of how much or little time you have available. Email Angel Lucas at clallamvolunteerangel@gmail.com or call 452-5244. Your help is welcomed!
  • A Special Event at our next affiliate meeting!! Thursday, March 20, 2014 is our next affiliate meeting in the lower level of Olympic Medical Center (hospital) at 6:30pm.  Come join us for the screening of "Call Me Crazy" starring Jennifer Hudson. This movie was produced by Sony and was only shown once on Lifetime. Now, Sony has allowed 100 licensed screenings of the film to NAMI national. Our local NAMI of Clallam County has been granted one of those licenses to show the film. So please join us for this rare event!!
