New Employee and Volunteer!!

The Participation Station

The Participation Station is a new peer run center that will be similar to a drop-in center but unique to the Bluegrass area.  We hope to open on November 1st.  There is lots of planning going on to make this project a success.  Thanks go out to Bluegrass MH-MR for donating the space at the old Comprehensive Care building at 201 Mechanic Street in Lexington, KY to use for our new Center!  NAMI Lexington and consumers are very excited about having a Center to hang out in and to learn about different aspects of their mental illnesses when alot of programming is not available.  This is a place for consumers, by consumers.  We will have lots of activities to participate in to help consumers achieve wellness and recovery.  Our next meeting will be September 1st at the NAMI Lexington office.  Call us for more details at (859) 272-7891.

The Soloist

A new movie is coming out the weekend of April 24th.  This movie is about a homeless man with schizophrenia and his relationship that builds with a reporter who finds out that this man is a gifted musician.  This movie received a 5 star in the Lexington Herald Leader.  We will have a booth at the Kentucky Theatre for the first week that the movie premieres.  This is truly an excellent depiction of someone who is living with a severe mental illness.  So check it out!
