What is NAMI?

NAMI Mid-Valley is a non-profit educational, support and advocacy organization for people concerned with mental health issues. We are affiliated with the state and national offices of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

NAMI Mid-Valley helps families, friends and consumers of mental health services by providing the Family to Family class on mental illness, resource materials, referrals, support groups, public outreach, political and legislative activity and anti-stigma education.

NAMI advocates acceptance of mental illness as a biological medical condition and strives to support persons with mental illness in living a full and satisfying life in their own communities. This includes appropriate housing, the best treatment and medication, social contact, training and employment opportunities, contributions to and acceptance by the community, and active participation in their own process of recovery.
