The statistics are 1 in 4 people have some sort of mental health issue. That can range from mild to major depression, Bipolar, Schizophrenia, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Dual Diagnosis - meaning drug and/or alcohol issues in addition to other mental health issues, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, brain trauma, etc. In the military the statistics quoted are 1 in 5 will return from service with some level of depression or mental health issue.

Info on Faith Works, please visit the website: FaithWorksGA.com.  FaithWorks is a grassroots initiative to galvanize Atlanta’s faith leaders, and their respective communities, to help those with mental and addictive illness. This interfaith coalition was initially founded to respond to our state’s mental health crisis with urgency and compassion. Now, we are energizing a mental health movement that builds partnerships between mental health advocacy organizations and faith communities throughout Georgia.

Governor Deal names Disability Services Ombudsman - Corinna M. Magelund, Governor’s Office of Disability Services Ombudsman         A native of Camilla, Magelund comes with strong state government experience. She served in the governor's office under the Perdue administration and, most recently, the Department of Community Affairs, where she worked closely with the Governor’s Office of Disability Services. In this role, she will have the responsibility of promoting the safety, well-being and rights of individuals with mental, developmental, substance use and other disabilities. She will serve as an advocate for behavioral health and developmental disability community. Magelund earned her bachelor’s degree in speech communications with an emphasis in organizational communications from Valdosta State University. She is involved with the Chastain Horseback Therapeutic Riding Program and also been appointed a 5th Congressional District representative on the Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission.

My understanding is if you are a combat vet or were a combat vet or combat era.... or if you are family member or family member of deceased Vet you can get counseling by placing a call and making an appt.  You DON NOT HAVE TO GO THRU VA PROCESS to get help. You can get help while waiting for VA Benefits...
