NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is a nonprofit grassroots organization working at the national, state and local community levels to improve the lives of people with mental illness and their families.

NAMI Farmington Valley-CT...

an affiliate of NAMI and NAMI-CT, was founded in June, 2004, to respond to the mental health needs of the greater Farmington Valley community.  Our mission is to:

SUPPORT people with mental illnesses, including children, and their friends and families.

EDUCATE and inform people with mental illnesses and their families about services and treatments available in the community.

ELIMINATE STIGMA by developing public understanding of the problems of living with a serious mental illness.

ADVOCATE for better services and treatments, protection of rights, and research.

To accomplish these goals we provide support groups, informational meetings, and education that is free of charge and open to the public.  Most of our programs are held at the Valley Community Baptist Church (VCBC) at 590 West Avon Road, Avon, CT, and although our programs are not church affiliated, we are most appreciative of the support the church gives us.
