CIT: Las Vegas Bound!

New Report on the High Costs of Prisons
In January, the Vera Institute of Justice released a report detailing the actual costs of prisons to taxpayers. While the report shows that there are numerous hidden costs of state prison systems, it cautions that per inmate cost is not a reflection of quality. Rather than striving for lower prison costs, states should aim for cost-effectiveness, in the form of programs that minimize recidivism and maximize safety.
