Consumers of mental health services will be transformed from simply living with mental illness to actively advocating for themselves and taking charge of their recovery. Presented by trained consumers, the course is aimed at relapse-prevention. Topics include individual relapse prevention planning, a debriefing/storytelling week and an advance directive for psychiatric care. The course meets for two hours once a week for 10 weeks. This is a support group for persons coping with a mental illness. The 90-minute weekly group is facilitated by persons who live with mental illness. Constructive resource sharing and problem solving are utilized.
