Meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at the Grand Rapids Area Library, 140 NE 2nd St., Grand Rapids, MN
5:00-6:30 pm Family Support Group meeting - for family or friends of people with a mental illness
6:30-7:30 pm Education Meeting - May 21 topic: "Trauma-Informed Care". Pat Cortese, trainer for the MN Dept of Human Services and MN Dept of Education Centers for Excellence, will talk about this approach to engaging people with histories of trauma that recognizes the presence of trauma symptoms and acknowledges the role that trauma has played in their lives. The public is welcome.
Wanted: Family members to serve on the Itasca County Local Advisory Council on mental health. This group provides input to the county on mental health service needs. Meetings are at 3:30 pm the first Wednesday of the month at the Itasca Resource Center in Grand Rapids. Contact Dan Seward (218) 256-5821 if you are interested.
