During the year NAMI Hennepin County encourages members and community members to get involved, get together, enjoy each other and make a difference! Special events each year include:
Annual Picnic. NAMI members come together for a casual fun event. July 19th- Mount Olivet Support Groups are canceled. Location to be announced.
NAMIWalks - Changing minds one step at a time! Minnehaha Park in Minneapolis on Sept 28, 2013. Registration: 11:30 am; Program: 12:30 pm; Walk: 1:00 pm. Hennepin Heroes (our county team) wants to be a MAJOR presence this year! This is a major fundraiser for NAMI that keeps education programs going and provides money for volunteer training. It is also a major stigma fighting event and a whole lot of fun! Bring your friends, family, and well-behaved dog and join the thousands of Mental Health Advocates for a 5K walk starting at Minnehaha Park. (NO need to walk, just come!) There will be food, beverages, music, activities for children, photos for teams, and socializing.
Annual Holiday Party. NAMI Hennepin members meet in the fireside room of Mount Olivet Church the 3rd Friday in December to celebrate the year in the company of NAMI friends. Main dish and drinks are provided. Bring a dish to share if you are able. Bring a small (less than five dollar) wrapped gift labeled “male” or “female” or “either” for the gift swap if you wish.
