BACKGROUNDFlynn is a participant in the Surgeon General's Conference and will be discussing factors that impact access to care (e.g., stigma, and diagnosis), the availability of services, and the involvement of families in evidence-based treatment. She will be available to comment about the conference and related issues. The Surgeon General's Conference is intended to identify appropriate, evidence-based treatments or services and provides recommendations as a basis for a Surgeon General's Call to Action. In a unique partnership with the Center for the Advancement of Children's Mental Health at Columbia University, NAMI mobilizes its members to carry messages throughout the country about the latest scientific research and evidence-based treatments.
