CIT: Sensitivity Training for the Police

John Shorter, coordinator, CIT (Crisis Intervention Team) Project

Confrontations between the police and people with mental illness can sometimes spiral out of control with tragic consequences. Learn about the 40 hours of special crisis intervention training local police forces have received from NAMI Queens/Nassau, thanks to a grant from the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock.

The meeting starts at 7:30 PM in Sloman Auditorium at The Zucker Hillside Hospital, 266th Street & 76th Avenue, Glen Oaks, NY. The Caring & Sharing group meets at 6:00 PM.

Creedmoor's Peer Academy: Job Training That Works!

Despite a tough job market, during this past year Creedmoor succeeded in placing 70% of their Peer Academy graduates in jobs. Learn about the curriculum of this special program for Creedmoor consumers and why the program is so successful.
