Social Skills Training:
How to enhance communication with your loved one
Lisa J Hayden, Ph.D.

In some cases, the most devastating effects of mental disorders are their effects on the social aspect of life. Humans are social creatures and thrive on interaction with others. Without this, depression and isolation are inevitable, leading to further detrimental consequences on one’s mental health.  You can help your loved ones by encouraging and reinforcing these social and communication skills in the home or in any setting.

Join us and learn about these great psychotherapy intervention techniques, and watch a role play demonstration.  This educational session takes the Communication module in NAMI classes to the next level! Get practical tips on how to help your loved one move forward into recovery.

Dr. Lisa Hayden is a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice, a clinical research psychologist with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Program Director of the Brain Injury Center of Ventura County. Dr. Hayden completed her pre-doctoral internship at the UCLA Clinical Research Unit at Camarillo State Hospital and Developmental Center, where she also completed a post-doctoral fellowship in psychiatric rehabilitation with Dr. Robert Liberman. Dr. Hayden has extensive experience as a treating professional and in providing consultation to professionals serving individuals diagnosed with a wide array of mental, intellectual, and developmental disabilities.
