MISSION STATEMENT
We educate, support, and
advocate for all those affected by mental illness.
NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots
mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions
of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI Billings is the local
affiliate of NAMI and we have been around since 1995.
NAMI Billings provides all services free of
charge, and we receive no government support or funding from other
levels of NAMI. We are supported entirely by the
generosity of the Billings
community. Each year we provide help through our support
groups, courses and advocacy to nearly 2,000 people!
Mental illnesses are highly
treatable, and most people who have them are able to live healthy and
successful lives when they receive appropriate treatment and regular
support. Our services help prevent
hospitalization and emergency admissions by complimenting and reinforcing
the care provided by physicians, therapists and case managers.
Barriers to recovery are lack of education and stigma.
NAMI Billings addresses these barriers and gives families hope and
encouragement.
We are committed to providing a supportive
environment and exceptional educational experiences to improve quality of
life and promote wellness. To this end, we offer
educational programs, support groups, personal advocacy, community
information, a lending library, and outreach programs for the larger Billings community.
