|Religious communities are in a unique position to combat stigma and provide a message of acceptance and hope. Proclaiming the values of social justice, respect for all persons, and non-discrimination, faith communities reach out to individuals and families affected by mental illness in many helpful ways. The Faith Community is the place for content, support and discussion centered around value of spirituality in the recovery process. |
You may also access NAMI FaithNet, a network of NAMI members and friends which facilitates the development within the Faith Community of a non-threatening, supportive environment for those with serious mental illness and their families.

Resources, Web Pages, and Internet Links for Faith Communities
Faith communities and NAMI affiliates provide resources for persons of faith to help congregations in their understanding of mental illnesses. These resources are offered to those in the faith community to be supportive and compassionate to persons who have mental illnesses. The faith community is a sleeping giant that is awakening to its important role of support and advocacy.
